(Washington, D.C. 20005) Science, the world's top journal of original scientific research, is looking for a versatile, energetic individual.
Successful candidate will assist online editor with variety of tasks in content and site development, Web site support, and usage analysis and analytics for the Science Web sites. Specific tasks may include working with the lead Web content developer in prototyping and coding new Web pages, site designs, in-page features, widgets, blogs, and Web services; upkeep and QC of static HTML pages on the Science sites; reporting on usage statistics and supporting usage-data and usability efforts; and assisting the online editor with Web project management and other tasks.
Qualifications: Position requires extensive university or college level training leading to a Bachelor's degree (preferably science related); three to five years of related experience; solid experience in HTML/XHTML (hand coding); CSS (including experience with cross-browser issues); JavaScript; ability to analyze and explore usage data and user responses; strong written and verbal communication skills; attention to detail; basic understanding of the capabilities and function of XML and RSS is highly desirable. Other beneficial skills include experience with jQuery and widget development, blog software (especially Movable Type), PHP/SQL, Web services, and Flash/ActionScript, as well as some publishing experience.
